#8378 Cead Mile Failte

"A Hundred Thousand Welcomes!"

This ancient Irish greeting is written in seventh century Celtic letters based on the Book of Kells and the Book of Lindisfarne. At the top is a symbol of the Tree of Life, taken from a Cottonian manuscript. The interwoven design at the bottom is a typical Celtic knotwork pattern, inspired by plaiting or basketry. Spirals were a favorite design used by the Celts since prehistoric time.
I make a special effort to use the authentic lettering style and designs of a specific culture
to express the ideas of that culture.

Professionally framed in a light natural oak (8" x 10") with double matting of ivory on a gold liner, printed on warm ivory parchment: $27.95

Double matted only:$10.95
