Double Matted
This delightful piece celebrates the visitor to the owner's home.  The guest would have passed by the totem that graced the front of the Eskimo dwelling. These tall sculptures celebrated the folk tales of the family.  Here, the raven, a spiritual messenger, plays a big part in the story.
The trim on the right is from Tlingit basket weaving. The Tlingits lived on the Northwest
coast of the U.S.  Indigo Raven
