About the Artist
I'm Dr. Jacqueline M. Shuler, painter, digital artist, calligrapher, graphic designer, author, and educator. After obtaining three Art Education degrees, with a doctorate from Carnegie-Mellon University, I opened Jacqueline Originals in 1971. I have also taught art on every level from preschool to postgraduate level.
As a colorist, painter and calligrapher, I enjoy combining these skills into unique images. My favorite activity is creating abstract paintings.
My studio is a renovated barn on top of a hill in Castle Rock, Colorado, with sunlight pouring in through the open south doors. After sixty years of experience in design, color theory, composition, calligraphy, drawing and painting, I can now create intuitively with a solid foundation of artistic skill and knowledge. Working in silence gives me the total concentration I enjoy. Oblivious to the passage of time. I am not actually "thinking" in the usual term of the word. I intuitively know what to do, and I do it without hesitation.
As a master calligrapher, I have control over calligraphic lines, whether in ink, paint, or digital media. Using these sweeping lines adds to the power of my work. My favorite element is the use of color as a catalyst for energy. I find Nature a wellspring of inspiration!
I have several paintings in private collections in Colorado, Washington, D.C., Kentucky, Florida, California and Pennsylvania.
